Fat dissolving injections: lose the double chin and love handles

  • Are you finding it hard to lose stubborn pockets of fat?
  • Is your appearance affecting your confidence?
  • Are you looking for a non-surgical alternative to liposuction?

Why do I need fat dissolving injections?

If you are unhappy about stubborn pockets of fat in the following areas, then fat dissolving injections are the treatment for you:

  • Hips
  • Stomach
  • Chin
  • Thighs
  • Knees
  • Below buttocks
  • Arms

Fat dissolving injections: top three benefits

1. Great for localised areas of fat that won’t shift with diet and exercise
2. Quick and minimally invasive
3. Results are permanent as long as you don’t gain weight

How do fat dissolving injections work?

The drug is injected into fatty areas where they liquefy fat cells, destroying them permanently. Fats are then eliminated naturally by the kidneys.

Each treatment will take up to eight weeks to show the full result. Larger areas will probably require between three and six sessions (one every two months) to see optimal results.

Your fat dissolving injections treatment plan

When you visit the Skin Aesthetics clinic for your consultation, Dr Qian will discuss your areas of concern and medical history with you to assess whether this treatment is suitable for you.
If it is appropriate, she will advise you of her recommended treatment plan.
At your consultation you will have the opportunity to discuss any questions you have.

What happens at my fat dissolving injections session?

The areas for injection will be marked and cleaned. Then the injections are done with a very small needle. The whole procedure will take 30-45 minutes.

How does it feel to have a fat dissolving injection?

The needle used is very small so you can barely feel it going through the skin. There is local anaesthetic mixed into the drug so the injections won’t be painful.

What happens after my fat dissolving injections?

You will feel some discomfort afterwards. As the fat cells start to be dissolved, there will be some redness and swelling. This is normal and to be expected, and will improve after a couple of days. Please try to keep the injection sites dry for at least six hours, and wear supportive clothing for comfort. Otherwise, you can get on with your day as normal.

Frequently asked questions

Are fat dissolving injections as effective as liposuction?

Yes, in some cases. Liposuction is more invasive, has longer downtime and is generally reserved for severe cases only. Fat dissolving injections are a much milder treatment and can be used in smaller, more delicate areas. The results take a bit longer to show, but are comparable to liposuction.

How long does the effect last?

Once the fat cells are dissolved, they are gone. If you maintain a healthy diet and lifestyle, and do not put on any weight, the results can be permanent.

Can I have more than one area treated in the same treatment?

Once the fat cells are dissolved, they are gone. If you maintain a healthy diet and lifestyle, and do not put on any weight, the results can be permanent.

Do I need some time off work afterwards?

You are likely to be a bit sore for a couple of days afterwards. You can take some simple pain killers like paracetamol if you need to. If your job requires you to be quite active then you might want to take a couple of days off work, or have your treatment on a Friday so that you can recover over the weekend.

Can I use this as a way to lose weight?

This is not a weight loss treatment. If you are generally overweight you should try to lose some weight first to get the most out of the treatment. If you don’t improve your lifestyle, you will only put the weight back on.
